The Burka Band, also known as the Blue Burqa Band, was an Afghan all-female indie rock band that formed in Kabul in 2002. They performed anonymously, with all members wearing burqas as a protest against the Taliban's rules regarding Islamic dress. Their music was known for challenging the oppression of women in conservative societies.
