JUDY COCUZZA, DRUMMER OF BETTY BLOWTORCH, JOINS CH

LOS ANGELES - Cheap Chick, the world’s first and only all-female Cheap Trick tribute band, are pleased to announce a new addition to their secret society. Picking from the best of the LA Girl Band Mafia, the band has lured none other than percussive enchantress Judy Cocuzza to join their ranks. When it comes to beating the skins, foxy Judy is known around Los Angeles for being one talented basher, having played previously with such LA musical luminaries as Bobsled, Tadpole and Borax. However, she’s probably most renowned under her pseudonym Judy Molish (get it? Ju Demolish?) playing with rock and roll bad girls, Betty Blowtorch.

Making her debut with Cheap Chick on January 3rd at the Knitting Factory, Judy has transformed herself into the suave and mysterious Bunni Carlos. With her white stay-press dress shirt and devilishly loosened tie, she invokes the spirit as well as the demanding beats of Bun E. Carlos, Cheap Trick’s man behind the kit. Judy is currently also doing studio and showcase work around town, so until some smart major label act snatches her up, Cheap Chick feel very fortunate to have her thumping thwack of a back beat behind them.

Joining members Pam Cheatersome (Pamita Neptuna/Pam Utterback) of the Neptunas and Riff Nielsen (Rifka Arslan) of the Magneatos and a new soon-to-be-named Robbin’ Zander, Judy rounds out what has been billed as an all-female indie-rock supergroup.

Cheap Chick’s former Bunni, Tonya Jaynes, is an international jet setter - currently working in Northern Calif., teaching drums in Las Vegas and occasionally making it back to LA once in a while to sleep. The members of Cheap Chick are thankful for her lending her percussive talents to Cheap Chick for the past six months and wish her great success in her future endeavors.
